2025 Asia Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA ASC)

22-24 October 2025, Singapore

Welcome Messages

Message from the General Chairs

On behalf of the Asia Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association (APSIPA) and the Organizing Committee, we are honored to welcome you to the 17th APSIPA Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA ASC 2025). This prestigious event will be held at the iconic Shangri-La Singapore from October 22–24, 2025. Singapore holds the unique distinction of being the only city in the world to host APSIPA ASC twice; the first APSIPA ASC in Singapore was organized in 2010, and 15 years later we are thrilled to bring this esteemed summit back to our vibrant city.

APSIPA ASC has come a long way since its inaugural edition in 2009 in Sapporo, Japan. Over the years, the conference has been hosted across Asia Pacific, the global hub for research and development in signal and information processing, establishing itself as a truly international forum for researchers and practitioners. In parallel, APSIPA as an organization has grown into a vibrant community of researchers, educators, and practitioners dedicated to advancing the field of signal and information processing. It now offers an extensive array of activities for its members, including Distinguished Lecturer programs, seasonal schools, technical committees, and local chapter events, all of which foster collaboration and innovation worldwide.

This year, we are excited to introduce a series of new initiatives designed to enrich the conference experience. Highlights include the Grand Challenge, Perspective and Panel Discussions, a Workshop commemorating the 90th Anniversary of Active Noise Control, the Education Forum, Women in APSIPA, the Founder Forum, the Sadaoki Furui Prize Presentations, and a special event for Asia-Pacific students—the inaugural APSIPA Three-Minute Thesis Competition. We are also launching a new lightning talk cum poster presentation format, a hybrid model that combines the efficiency of lightning talks with the depth of poster sessions, fostering dynamic knowledge exchange, networking, and community building. Collectively, these diverse activities provide unique opportunities to engage with industry leaders and academic experts from across the Asia-Pacific region, inspiring meaningful interactions and advancing the frontiers of our field. In this spirit, the theme of APSIPA ASC 2025: “Signal and Information Processing in the Era of Multimodal AI”, which underscores our commitment to exploring emerging directions in research and innovation during this transformative era of artificial intelligence.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who has contributed to making this event possible. In particular, we acknowledge our generous industry sponsors, supporting organizations, and exhibitors for their invaluable support. Their contributions have been instrumental in ensuring the success of APSIPA ASC 2025, and we are honored to have them as partners in this endeavor.

Finally, we warmly welcome all participants to APSIPA ASC 2025 and to Singapore. We encourage you to take full advantage of the rich technical program, engaging discussions, and networking opportunities throughout the conference. We hope you also experience the renowned Singaporean hospitality during your stay. Thank you for joining us to celebrate innovation, collaboration, and the future of signal and information processing at this summit. We look forward to an inspiring and memorable conference together. See you at APSIPA ASC 2025!

Message from the Technical Programme Chairs

It is our great honour and privilege to welcome you to the APSIPA Annual Summit and Conference (ASC) 2025, held in Singapore. As the Technical Programme Chairs, we are delighted to present to you a rich and diverse programme that reflects both the depth of our community’s expertise and the breadth of emerging frontiers in signal and information processing under the overarching theme of Signal and Information Processing in the Era of Multimodal AI.

This year, we received 604 submissions from more than 20 countries/regions, demonstrating the truly global reach of APSIPA. After a rigorous peer-review process, 457 papers were accepted for presentation with regular paper acceptance rate of 70.4%. The programme has been carefully designed to balance fundamental research, translational innovation, and cross-disciplinary exploration, ensuring that every participant finds inspiration and opportunities for collaboration.

APSIPA ASC 2025 introduces several new elements to enhance engagement and impact:

  • Thematic Programme Streams: Papers have been clustered physically and thematically into coherent streams across speech, language, image, video, biomedical signal processing, machine learning, robotics, forensic and security, and communications. This thematic structuring provides clarity and encourages cross-pollination between related areas.

  • Maximising Exposure and Interaction: This year, we provide all authors with both ORAL and POSTER presentation opportunities. Each paper is given a 5-min spotlight presentation at the stage and a 30-min interactive session at the poster stand (up to A0 portrait) in the same room. All potential award-winning papers are given spotlight presentations in one session for greater exposure.

  • Compact, Audience-Aware Session Design: Sessions have been structured to optimise flow, minimise overlap, and maximize opportunities for discussion. This design reflects our commitment to both intellectual rigor and participant experience.

Some Key Highlights of APSIPA ASC 2025 include:

  • Keynote Talks: Distinguished leaders from academia and industry will share their visions on the future of AI, signal processing, and human-centred technologies.

  • Tutorials: Covering both foundational topics and emerging trends, these sessions provide participants with opportunities to deepen expertise or explore new directions.

  • Panels and Cross-Disciplinary Dialogues: Panels will address pressing issues such as responsible AI, embodied intelligence, and the role of signal processing in sustainable development.

The success of APSIPA ASC 2025 is the result of the dedication of many individuals. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Technical Programme Committee members, APSIPA Technical Committee Chairs and reviewers, whose tireless efforts ensured the quality and fairness of the review process. I also thank the organisers of forums, grand challenge, perspectives, autumn school, 3MT competition and special sessions for enriching this year’s programme.

Finally, we would like to thank all authors and participants. Your contributions and engagement are what make APSIPA a vibrant and impactful community. I hope that the programme inspires you, sparks new collaborations, and strengthens our shared mission of advancing signal and information processing for the benefit of society.

Thank you for making this vibrant edition of APSIPA ASC possible! We wish you an intellectually stimulating and rewarding conference experience at ASC 2025 in Singapore!
